Oatley Electronics K272A pre amp headphone amplifier
« on: June 01, 2010, 11:42:26 AM »
Hi everybody,

I finally received the K272A from Oatley and I love the kit. I had the old K272 for some time now, but the old kit hisses when used as prre amp, the new kit doesn't. Nonetheless, the PC board is a lot bigger with the new kit, I don't really like that. Also the extra batteries for the heaters are not really to my liking, making  a power supply more tedious.  That is also the main reason why I keep this one battery operated, will by some rechargeable batteries today or tomorrow.

Anyway, as headphone amp it is an improvement, no matter what you use as source, mp3 player or laptop. It is very loud, more than enough power to drive headphones. Frequency response is very good, too. Mine goes from 10 HZ till 17000 HZ super linear, than it starts to roll off a bit, but that maybe due to my home brew signal generator, but hey, at least I got one. Here are some pics.
